 General Information About S5 Software
All software products
are copyrighted
database applications, developed with Microsoft Office Developers Edition.
However, you do not need any retail version of Microsoft Office or Access
installed on your PC to run them. They include the necessary "runtime" files to
install and function in the absence of Microsoft Access. All applications
run under secure workgroups with password protection and various permission
levels. They are designed as Front-End/Back-End databases. The user interface
is the front-end, while the back-end database actually stores your data,
allowing for easy upgrades to the front-end, user interface without tampering
with back-end data.
If you do have a version of Microsoft Office or Access currently installed:
Due to the fact that we utilize custom scripts from the
installation experts at SageKey Software,
our applications will isolate themselves, running independent of any version of
Access through Access XP that may happen to be present, or later installed, on
your computers, avoiding installation and operational conflicts among versions.
Multiple Users and
Network Installations: All
software installations may be set up to install the front-end, user interface on
each local computer, while the shared, back-end is installed to a
network/server.

Operating System/Processor/RAM: Our software will install and run
successfully on computers with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second
Edition, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows NT 4.0
with Pentium II, III, and IV processors. Minimum of Pentium II, 133
MHz and 128MB of RAM required. As always, more RAM and higher
processor speeds result in better performance regardless of application.
Optimum performance is achieved with Pentium III or IV with 128MB of RAM
or better.
Available Hard Drive Space: Hard-disk space requirements
will vary depending on your computer's current configuration. Up to 270 MB
of available hard-disk space is required for the whole nine yards, which
includes Access 2002 runtime files, and necessary system file updates for older systems,
but these will
only be installed if you need them. If you
use Windows Update from the Microsoft website to keep Windows, Internet
Explorer, etc. up to date, it is doubtful that you will need everything
available during installation, so the install should be considerably
smaller than the maximum.
CD-ROM Drive: Required.
Display: Super VGA (800x600) or higher-resolution monitor
with 256 colors.
Peripherals: Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse®, or
compatible pointing device.

Dependencies:
Although all S5 applications function without the need
for Microsoft Office/Access, certain features may be dependent on other
programs, as follows. Email/Internet:
SMTP/POP3, IMAP4, or MAPI-compliant
messaging software such as Outlook Express for e-mailing of reports.
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher is required. See System Updates, below.
Spell Check: Spell Check
is dependent on Office 2000 or Office XP. If you do not have either installed,
Spell Check is not functional. In the near future, we will be adding
independent spell check functionality.

The system updates that may be installed with any S5 application are as
follows: The Windows Installer - One of the latest versions of
Windows Installer will be temporarily installed to a Temp folder to
accommodate the installation, but will be removed at the conclusion of the
installation. You may already have the following other possible
updates if you utilize regular Windows and Office updates from Microsoft.
If so, our installations will recognize their presence and will not
re-install them: Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher is required. If you do not have 5.5
or higher, S5 software will install Internet Explorer 6. If your
operating system is NT 4.0, the install will check to see if you have
updated to Service Pack 6 for NT. If not, NT 4.0 SP6 will be
included in the install. The latest version of MDAC (Microsoft Data
Access Component) will be installed if you have not already acquired it.
Windows 2000: The installation will check for the presence of SP4
and install it, if needed. None of these updates, if required, should adversely affect the operation
of your computer or other programs.

S-Five currently offers free, ongoing support
via e-mail and phone for all software products. See our
